Born in Windsor, Ontorio, Canada, the daughter of Sharon and Clarence Edwards.
Her mother, Sharon, divorced her first husband, Clarence Edwards, married Jerry Twain, an Ojibwe Indian, and moved with her new husband and three daughters to Timmins, a small town in Ontario.
Performing in front of a drunken audience was not easy for the girl: I was terribly afraid! There the future star of the scene spent almost all her childhood and adolescence.
